The Hortimol LE90A model is composed of 2 additional UV and FR LED bars. It has been specially developed to provide additional UV and far-red light to extend the light spectrum provided by other light sources. The unique design of the bars provides bilateral luminescence with a wide beam angle that allows for even distribution on each plant. Designed to be fixed on MG6 and MG8 frames, the presence of adjustable mounting accessories allows it to adapt to a large number of LED models on the market.
Ultraviolet light is very beneficial for plant growth and in the potential reduction of disease. For plants, the UV growth spectrum in combination with the IR spectrum gives responses that are very similar to blue light and significantly stimulates photosynthesis.
By causing healthy stress in plants, UV/FR bars can encourage them to produce their own natural "sunscreen" (protective compounds). For example, plants develop more trichomes, terpenes, new metabolites and even color variations.
The latest scientific research has shown that there are photoreceptors specific to UV radiation in plants. Regulated exposure at the right intensity and for an adequate period also results in healthier and more resistant plants. We observe an increase in the thickness of the leaves and cell walls, which makes the plants less sensitive to insects and mold due to the presence of this thicker natural shield. The use of UV light therefore makes it possible to reduce the use of phytosanitary products such as insecticides or fungicides.
We do not yet know why plants react to the presence of UV and FR in their environment, but we can now use the positive effects in our favor.
As decades of practical experience in greenhouse and indoor cultivation show, it is entirely possible to grow plants with good results without UV or FR components in the spectrum. However, by re-providing these wavelengths where they are not naturally available, growers can not only mitigate the risks, but also and above all increase the tastes, smells and even potency of the cultivated product. In summary, increase the overall quality!
